Cutting Plan Optimisation
A tool that works out for itself which sheet fits best and how to cut it with as little offcut as possible
The challenge
- An awkward shape is a puzzle: which sheet do you use, and how do you cut it so that as little metal as possible is left over?
- Only one experienced technician can judge this well, on the basis of years of experience. When they are ill, on holiday or leave, the offcut mounts up.
- Nobody knows exactly which remnant sheets and sizes are still in stock, so usable remnant material often ends up as scrap.
The solution
- An employee enters the desired shape and dimensions, typed or through a photo of a sketch.
- The tool works out which sheet fits best and how to cut it most cleverly, with as little offcut as possible.
- A concrete step-by-step plan with automatic cost calculation, plus an optional digital overview of remnant sheets so that usable metal is reused.
